Pics Galore (Oh How I've Sinned)

Time: 9.56pm
Location: Office lor....where else

I'm waiting for my colleagues to get finish up their stuffs so we can finally go for dinner. Gosh, I AM SO HUNGRY!

Therefore, I'm just gonna keep my mind off the food (sushi, sushi, sushi) and post some pictures!

Gallery 1:

Interesting Places I visited on Sunday

Shop Number 1: This really dark and messy vintage shop along Amoy Street (walking towards China Sq) has many interesting finds. The owner, a friendly Indian man, is nice and observant. Observant 'cos he actually noticed my friend's necklace and wanted to know if it's something vintage so he could buy... hmm...

Shop Number 2: Located at China Square, one of the many vintage shops there. You'll find A LOT of memories there.... but beware of the prices, my friend bought some prawn sharpeners for $3.00 there but it was sold for S$1.00 each at another shop down the lane....

Things we usually miss out when we're in a hurry...look, lovely giant size mentos!

Gallery 2: My Shopping Trips!

Red cap from Queen's Couture for about S$17 plus... didn't know how often I'd wear it but since I got a discount for sourcing...so...oh well!

Also from Queen's but I didn't ask for a discount..silly me. Bought for S$26 and it's kinda a comfort buy since I lost my purse (There I go again)

An authentic Fluff cardholder, bought for S$12.00 (retailing at S$26) from a flea market...hehehe......another bargain buy!

A BIKINI FOR S$16!! ON SALE!!! Ok, I won't wear bikini to beach, no figure to flaunt but it's just so nice and retro!

Brooch for S$6.90 and earrings $1.90/ S$2.00 respectively from People's Park!!! CHEAP NEH!

Top, S$13 (Topshop sale! Yipee!), skirt, S$48 from Forever21, Shoes, S$29.90 from Icon@Bugis...Heheh

Now, have I mentioned I'm a shopaholic?

Review 3

Time:2.40pm

Lunch was good...food from Changi food centre. Yummy!

Aniways, I've finished reading the last Cecelia Ahern's book titled P.S I Love You. I still think her last book, (which ironically was the first of her 3 books which I read) is still the best. Maybe 'cos there a lot more imagination and fantasy involved. This one, her first book, started off as something very romantic, but turned out to be a little... draggy towards the end.

Summary:
Holly and Gerry were the perfect couple. Gerry contracted brain cancer and passed away. Holly devasted. Gerry secretly planned a year long of list for her to accomplish after he passed on. His list made her get on with life.

_____

Ok, sounds simple right? Well, the depressing part is, his 'list' is really just tiny notes of like 5-liners. So there were no sweet memories of what they used to do, nor cheesy (but I like) lines of how much he loved her. In the end, it turned out to be more of her moving on with her life and how Gerry will always be a memory for her.

Ok, maybe it wasn't that bad. But kinda disappointing since I was anticipating much more.Sigh.

Pre-Memory Loss

Time: 11.05am
Location: Office

I think I am probably going to have dementia by the time I'm 40. Just a while ago, I actually forgot my username to sign in for my blog. I was quite frantic for a while before I realised I've used my own name.... (sheesh..silly me)

Maybe it's got to do with the paranoia since the loss of my purse. It's like I can't help but ask myself 'why in the world could I have forgotten!?'.... Well, it's not really helping since I can't possibly recover what's lost. But guys, if I do have dementia anytime soon, tell me to go read my own blog.

Last Friday, I was at Carlton hotel to attend a volunteer dinner. I was volunteering for Children's Society and I'm kinda ashamed that I've only done like ONE minor stuff for them and I got invited. I kept telling the lady to 'gimme more stuff to do', so I won't feel like I'm a free-loader. But it was all in good fun, people were nice (though almost no one talked to me the whole time) and polite and the dinner was good. Looking forward to more contribution to the society.

Then on Sunday, my ex-colleague and I went to MAAD flea market again. I'm glad we've made up since that silly 'I nag at you for spending too much' incident. We practically scouted the whole of Singapore for quaint shops and eclectic finds. The itinerary for the day goes like this:

Meetup: 1pm at Tanjong Pagar for Red Dot Museum
(Left in 10 mins)
Walked towards China Square and explored little shops along the way.
Bought stuffs at China Square flea market and walked to People's Park complex.
Lunch at People's Park
Walked to City hall to explore the new Raffles City basement market.
Had healthy slush.
Went to Granny's Day out and Playground at Peninsula. Tried a top but didn't buy. (Phew..good...now saved $29.00)
Walked to Old Parliament lane. Nothing to see.
Took a cab to Haji Lane. All shops almost closed. Had a drink at an Egyptian cafe and got pestered by an old man for money.
Walked to Bugis Seiyu.
Went to Icon@Bugis Point and bought shoes at $29.00....(eerrr...just spent it again)

See, told u I almost travelled the whole of Singapore.:)

Aniways.... (Gosh, i love this word, esp. with the S)I am going for a movie marathon on Friday!!! I'm going watch Monster House and The Devil Wears Prada... think it's starting at 11pm till like...I dunno, 5am? Hope I won't fall asleep!

Fast forward to September 14. I am set to go and attend the wedding at Osaka. Will be arriving at Bangkok with Mommy and then go Nagoya Airport. Maybe everything's happening so suddenly that the excitment has yet to sink in. I even bought 'Japanese for Dummies' and have only read up to Chapter 2. Now I know that Japanese end their phrases with verbs. I mean, when I paid $360 for my Japanese course in poly, they never taught us that! What a rip-off.

Been reading up a lot on brown's blog. Realised that I'm getting more involved in politics. Not involved as in go for rallies and stuff, but I feel like I'm keeping myself updated..which is good. Aris, my senior suggested that I set up my own opposition party. That's worth some thought....ok, I'm kidding la!

Notice how this entry seems to be quite inconsistent... told u I'm having memory loss. I'm just S.L.O.W.L.Y recalling what's going on in my life before typing it out.

*Laments: MSN has been wonky. Now I can't sign in with my yahoo account...

Doggie Days

Time: 11.03pm
Location: Office

Everyone goes 'Awwww'.....

Don't you think he's the most adorable creature on earth. He and Silver, another pet of my friend, the animal saviour- Ivy. (I realised that I didn't have a picture of Silver)...I'll get one from Ivy soon and post it up. Oh, before I forget, his name is Troy. Yes, the legendary Troy starring Brad Pitt, where he bared his once tight bum. (Ditto about that now, Angelina probably did something to it by now)

I was never much of an animal person. Reason being, I have no idea how to handle them. It's like I didn't know how to carry hamsters without them fidgeting. I don't even dare to hold a fish out of the water for fear that my big fat fingers will squash it. Everyone knows I work well with children, but with animals, it's a totally different story.

But the funny thing is, animals (or at least my friends' pets) seem to have some form of affinity with me. He's an adorable Schnauzer and when my friend adopted him, he was this tiny and kinda blur little creature. I was initially unwilling to carry him. I am alright with stroking them and all, but if I have to like come in REALLY CLOSE contact with animals, I freak out. But I slowly got used to Silver and I think he got used to me too. He even slept on my lap the last time we went to ECP. He's like soooo sweet.

As for Troy- Jane's pet, I took quite a while to warm up to him. Troy's already 7-years-old and in dog's year, he's probably considered middle-aged. He was abandoned and found by Ivy's sister-in-law who in turn, let Jane adopt it. He was tiny, agressive and almost hairless. To make thing worst, he was ALWAYS humping away when I first met him. Needless to say... I wasn't amused. Fast forward to 4 months later, Troy has slowly gotten over the trauma of his past, and when I went over the day before, he was initially terrified of me. (Which I have no idea why...I think my permed hair resembles his and he was wondering where in the world such a huge Maltese came from)...but the next morning, he warmed up to me and was willing to let me cuddle him. (That's how I got this picture taken)

I am so in love with these 2 boys. I've got a video of Troy but it's kinda large to be poste here (ok, actually I dunno how to) but I'm sure anyone who's going to see this video's SOOO going to fall in love with him.

*Smiles.

Travelling Bandit

Time: 2.15pm
Location: A freezy office

I was looking at the semi-finalists of Discovery Channel's 5 Takes contest. I actually submitted an entry, but wasn't selected. So oh well, I shall continue to live the undramatic life of a designer for now.

I have been bitten by the travelling bug recently. I was never really that 'enthu' about travelling until almost a yr ago. I will be going to Japan for a wedding (damn, not mine) at Osaka in September. I am so looking forward to it.

Last night, I had the most awesome conversation with Mom. I actually almost slept on Dad's side of the bed while chatting with her (Dad was at his usual mahjong sessions). It felt good to feel so close with your family.

Oh where, oh where have u gone?

Time: 5.33pm
Location: Office

I was just checking if I needed my IC to go travelling, and my dear friend, Jen, told me it's best to go get it done cos some anal places don't recognise passport alone. So, wtf, I went to the immigrations site and checked, and tadaa..the fee for subsequent loss of IC is a whopping...(drumroll pls) S$300!!!!!

(Thanks for Jen, who happily quipped that it might cost S$300 to make an IC, and yes, it does cost S$300... I should get her to tell me 4-D numbers)

That's like a whole month of transport fees for me man. WAH LAO!

So now, I'm going to stall all I can until hopefully, that bugger who has already spent my money from my nice pink Renoma purse, will have the decency to return my IC. I JUST WANT MY FREAKIN' IC!

Oh where, oh where have you gone?
My lovely pink card with my cherubic face...

Please come home to Mama.

Blood Ties

Time: 11.17pm
Location: Bro's Room

When was the last time we looked at our parents and really talk to them? Not the 'What's for dinner?" but the sitting down, in front of the telly and comment about life, people, news...et cetetra...Have we noticed how much they've aged and how small they suddenly look. Maybe not small as in size, but it seems like now we're towering over them and they look so...tired.

I was sitting next to Mom watching the telly and folding 'golden ingots' to be burnt for the seventh month. I looked over to her and I noticed how much she've aged. One amazing thing about my Mom is that she doesn't have any grey hairs. Not a single strand and she's in her mid 50s. My Mom is really pretty. She hardly looks a day over 40 but when I look at her closely, I can see fine lines at the end of her bright eyes. My Mom has the largest eyes around and very defined double eye-lids...whereas I inherited my "Cheena-eyes" from my Dad. (Not that I'm complaining) She told me that a close friend of ours is getting married in Japan. She has been invited to go over to attend the wedding dinner. All expenses will be paid. But my Mom is hesitant about going as she couldn't speak the language. She will like us to accompany her (She didn't say but I know) but the thought of forking out extra $$ for the airtickets kinda holds her back. My Mom is very particular about money. I don't blame her, as we were never well-off to begin with. And everything we have today, she worked hard for it. She told me she was tired, and I gave her a massage. In the past, I would've stopped within 2 mins as my hands were tired. Yesterday, I went on for almost 10.

Dad's eyes haven't fully recovered. My Dad is quite a big baby. Maybe he just wants the attention and thus I sometimes 'entertain' him a lot. My Dad was quite dashing when he was younger. My Mom said he was so well-groomed (aka metrosexual) that many gals fall for him. He makes wonderful meehoon goreng and curry chicken. He too, like Mom, loves me a lot.

I know that they're probably not going anywhere anytime soon. But sometimes, when I look at them, at how fast time flies, I get really scared. In fact, I'm tearing now when I'm typing this. I am scared that I'll never be able to give them the life I want them to have. They've worked so hard all their lives, and yet, I am still unable to fully provide for them. I am scared that if my dreams of working overseas finally come true one day, will I be able to abandon all and leave them. It feels weird inside, that now I'm 24, and they're getting older. And someday, they will eventually leave me. And the thought of not having them around scares me.

I'm sure all of us feels this way sometimes, but we hardly acknowledge it. It's like a feeling we brush aside, 'cos we kinda take for granted their existence. It's so hard for us to tell them we love them, but it's easier to tell our partners how we feel. But they're only going to be around for so long...and it scares me that I'll not have enough time to repay them back. Maybe I'm thinking too much (Yes, I am) but for me, for now, forever, they're be the closest people to my hearts.
