So Much For Christmas

Time: 10.20am
Location: Office
Weather: Pouring Cats, Dogs, Rats and all from the Noah's Ark

Merry Christmas.

It's a Tuesday, but it sure feels like a Monday. A very grey Monday in fact. Was at my editor's place for a Christmas party and apart from me, the rest of my colleagues that went have yet to turn up this morning. Even my boss, who didn't go to the party, is yet to be seen.

I was at a prize presentation ceremony on Friday with my Mom. It's also her birthday. I kinda figured I wasn't going to win the top prize 'cos I guess one will know when they didn't put in much effort on something. It's a design competition that I've been thinking about but due to the hectic deadlines, I was left with only 1 day to come up with something. So getting a consolation wasn't half-bad. Anyway, during the prize presentation, I wanted to have a picture taken with my work. As my Mom is totally not the most tech-savvy person around, I gently tugged the sleeve of a guy who was taking a picture of his friend, whom I presumed was the 1st prize winner. Sounding as sweetly as possible, I went "Hi, do you mind taking a picture for me?"

Without even looking down (Yes, down, he's like 2 heads taller), he mumbled "Erm, no, I've got my own camera."

What the!(#U*(#()#&()#?

Luckily the helpful organiser immediately came over to help me.

See, see why I find local guys sooooo appalling. Ok, maybe not ALL of them, but there's like at least 45 percent who's like... 'unsalvagable'...(My own special term, yeah, shoot me for bad English)

And then, on MSN today, I saw the English man I had the slightest crush on when I went to Japan. He's apparently dating the China woman, and his MSN Nick was 'Bao bei wo ai ni'. Ok, I'm soooo gonna hurl. For goodness sake, he only knows the woman for like 3 months? I don't know...and he's applying for her visa to go to England for half a year. How in the world am I suppose to tell him, "Look, you've gonna be wiser than that!"

But then again, I don't even know him that well either. In fact, I've only known him for 1 full week in Japan. Hahaha....

Was at Jen's place for her X'mas party... nice homely affair...which is probably going to happen again on NYE, but at my senior's place this time.

Oh, back to X'mas. Something happened yesterday that made me think. And it REALLY made me think.

You know, how X'mas is supposed to be the time to give and share, tell the truth and be gracious...– in fact, everything nice. Well, apart from my totally miserly boss who only knows how to receive, but never to give... I was quite affected by something that a close ex-colleague-who-turned-friend did.

We all know during X'mas, we sometimes receive things that's totally unneccessary...like one too many mugs (Which I gave my whole office..haha), tonnes and tonnes of chocolates... but at the end of the day, we all know it's the thoughts that counts. We wouldn't really say "Hey, I hate your gift."

Well, I literally got that right smack on my face.

My ex-colleague/friend (the one who had a misunderstanding with me over her spending habits) met up with me on X'mas day. I've always wanted to give her something back in return for her generosity on my birthday. (Which she gave me a collectible of Jack, the skeleton) So despite being ultra broke from paying my first insalment of the school fees, I bought her a handphone holder cum Topshop purse.

Her reaction was rather shocking... let's just say she outright told me she did't like what I gave. "It's not her style..but then again, our styles are different."

I was stunned but nevertheless, it's a spirit of giving, so I told her I'll take back the present, and we'll go choose something she'll like. So I ended up buying her a book, titled "How to Kill A Mocking Bird". The irony.

I don't know... it's pretty insulting, though she did admit it's hard to buy a gift for her, as she's rather fussy...but I don't know. Perhaps it's to do with one's EQ. I think that's probably the last time I personally choose something for her.

Merry Christmas... Happy New Year.

I'm The Fatty

Time: 11.29am
Location: Office

My ego's so bruised now.

I've been pudgy all my life...and I don't think I need anyone to remind me that. But recently, the word 'Fat' has been creeping up to me from all corners...as if I needed to be reminded of that.

I'm the official 'UFO' in the house. That stands for 'Unidentified Fatty Object'..my brother came up with that.

The other day, while I was at the temple waiting for my Mom, I saw my Aunty. She's like this typically short 'omachan' and I seem to tower over her 1.5m frame. She was with her son, who was buying Bak Kwa. And our conversation went something like this:

Me: Oh, Ah Boy Kor Kor buying Bak Kwa ah?
Aunty: Yah, I told him not to buy already... bak kwa is so fattening...
Me: Yah... high in calories..unhealthy
Aunty: Yah, women shouldn't eat too much, especially at my age, very unhealthy... so fat not nice.
Me: Yah true.
Aunty: Women fat ah very ugly one....(yaks away)
Me: (What're you hinting at, old lady)

Then the next day, I came across my new colleague's car..and he had this sign stuck on the front of it: NO FAT CHICKS.

Then yesterday, after tuition, my student accidentally locked herself out..and I had to wait with her for her uncle in the pouring rain at the shelter of her condo. (It's like some Taiwanese drama, where we were the abused children) Her uncle came and I asked if he could drop me at the nearest busstop. My student's younger brother (Who switches between angel and devil within seconds) exclaimed :Ying Jie Jie, why you want to sit in the car! You're too fat la!

STUMPED.

First time he ever said that, and in my face. Yeah, yeah..I had to laugh it off as I looked at the shocked expressions on his uncle and auntie's faces.

Yes, I'm the fatty. So what, bite me.

Was at the Cannery last Friday. Love the Clinic. Excellent crowd, or perhaps they had to invite some pretty faces to glam up the event. Saw reporters, models-(Jade Cole Again) and my uber-cool ex-editor, Hui. The exhilaration of seeing her! We shrieked like high-school girls.

It was there that I realised HOW MANY CUTE GUYS there are in Singapore. I don't even care if they're straight or gay. I was practically drooling. I think Jenna has to hold me back.:)

Ah...if everyday's like that... all the eye-candy. I'll work at the Cannery, man.

Destined to be Alone...?

Time: 10.26am
Location: Office

When I'm back to blogging, it usually means my deadlines are over, and I'm so free that I'm surfing auctions...and when I've done that and read all the interesting threads in forum, I'm back to blogging...(I'm starting to rhyme..at least for the first 2 sentences)

(Now: 11.08am)
I went back to work and completely all the amendments for the school diary I'm doing. Yeah...now I'm quite certain women are excellent at multi-tasking.

Anyway, I meant to post some pics of my recent buys..but haven't had time to get around to do it. Besides, I'll freak close friends out when they realise how much I've spent.

Recently, I discovered something about myself. Well, it came about when I was reading the NEWPaper and they had this really wacky column by Kumar. He's kinda like Aunt Agony, but more blunt and funny. A lady wrote in to ask him what should she do with a guy who calls her 'babe'. She finds it degrading and wants to avoid him. His reply was that she should get over it and stop being shallow. (Or something like that) Which made me think, I'm very much like this lady too.

Friends who know me well will know that I have this 'blacklist'. There's like certain things I can't stand in people and I'll avoid them at all cost. Maybe it's a Scorpio trait, 'cos I remember reading that Scorpios have few friends 'cos they tend to "freeze the unworthy ones". - That's courtesy of Linda Goodman, a famous astrologer.

I'm not really sociable in the first place, so I don't make new friends easily. Or rather, it depends on my mood, and if I like that person well enough to want to make friends with them. Girls are fine in general, 'cos we'll just chit if we have the same frequency. Guys, it's a different story. 'Cos if you have the right frequency, you tend to wonder if he's "THE ONE" you've been waiting for. Perhaps my biological clock is ticking, so it's kinda like the "I WANT TO FIND A MATE-URGENT" phrase.

There were a few guys who tried to be nice to me and chat with me like friends, but somehow, I tend to cut the conversation short. I simply do not know what to say to them without seeming patronising. In fact, a very nice guy whom I befriended started out as someone whom I thought I can be friends with..until he starts to message one too many times, and each time, wanted to call and chat. Don't get it right, he's not interested in me. In fact, he'll call me to tell me about this gal whom he really likes and he's unsure of what to do next.

Which irritates me. I mean, firstly, I don't even know you that well. And I'm not much of a listener. (Wait....I'm not much of a conversationalist either...ok not with people I don't know well) so it kinda irks me when someone wants to droon on and on about another person whom I don't even know.

Ok, I know some people will think I'm shallow as hell and totally self-centred. I think I am too. Maybe 'cos my work's schedule so tight that I really can't be bothered to entertain people whom I don't really fancy.

Everybody's gonna hate me soon....if they don't already and I'm not just speaking satirically. What if I'm 50 and still like this!!?!

Gosh.. somebody help me.

I'm Still Alive

Time: 3.51pm
Location: Office....

The skies are gray and it looks like it's gonna rain cats & dogs soon.

I haven't been blogging for a while..at least not in the decent way of writing something down. That's because I've been like totally busy for the past 3 weeks. I don't think I manage to sleep more than 6 hours a day because of the magazine.

I've been rushing, rushing like crazy... I don't even remember leaving the office at 8pm... usually it's like 2-4.30am in the morning..and then it's back to work at 11am...

All this thanks for my darling boss. I never felt like punching someone in the face so much. Until i met her. I think my temper has always been one of my virtues... I hardly ever lost control of myself or yell at anyone. Not that I have yelled at her yet...though a part of me is silently cussing her.

The whole team was rushing the magazine since 2 weekends ago. There were a lot of hiccups and everyone's emotions were pretty messed up. I had to forgo a family outing on Saturday to Vivo just to come back to resize the supplement. I am SUPPOSED to work only 5 days a week, by the way.

When I came in at 10am on Monday morning, my boss was already questioning my senior on my whereabouts. When my senior said we were working late on Saturday, her reply was "It's Saturday that you guys were working late..not Sunday."

Please, someone hold me back before I pounce on her and wring her neck.

Then, she went to sign on 3 more contract publishing. And I had to finish all of them. I don't know if she's out to get me or something...

I stayed till 12midnight yesterday, and she had the decency to sms me to tell me she's not going to meet the client the day after 'cos she's on MC.

Yeah, like she's the only one who gets sick. (If that's even real)

My days have been pretty screwed up. Went to post office at Pasir Ris to mail something and it was closed when I reached at 6.05pm.. graphics side forgot to print out my proofs..and I had to wait like a fool for them.

Luckily, I met some nice people too. While I was at Paya Lebar, I asked the control station staff if the Post office was still open, they weren't certain, so they actually let me pass the gantry without tapping just to check.

Nice good o'l people.

I caught the movie, Eragorn too...It's quite a disappointment. Perhaps I was expecting more LOTR kinda stuff. I thought they rushed through the movie and there were hardly any emotions for the characters (they all died too fast)...

Back to my boss.

You know how they say a person's features change every 5 years? You may look the same as you were 5 years ago, but if you're a nice person, you tend to look prettier. I guess it's in the vibes.

Well, she looks terrible. And I mean really ugly. I'm not saying this 'cos I really dislike her. I think her heart's so foul that it's showing outside. She has this way of manipulating people...2 of my colleagues have since left.

I am so so SOOOOO angry with her. It's so bad that it makes you boil inside, like your heart is choking. But I believe in retribution and karma.

Someday, she will receive what she deserves.

Shopaholic Attack

Time: 12.34am

Why haven't I been blogging?

I am stuck at work.

I'm still in the office...I'm working and at the same time, I'm surfing the net for auction items. I'm officially a shopaholic.

Check out these 3...so keen to get them. Saw them on some websites, but then I lost the link..sheesh. Hope some sellers will have them.:)
